It appears we have a first for downtown Milwaukee: Otters on the lakefront!

While otters have been spotted in Milwaukee County, they’ve never been documented in the city of Milwaukee, according to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.

That is until this month, when the DNR received video of otters near the Milwaukee Institute of Art and Design.

The DNR shared video of the furry creatures in the snow.

They are not sure if the group are “bachelor otters or a family wandering through Milwaukee,” but called the sighting “exciting.”
