Windy before golden sunshine returns

Posted
and last updated

Clouds will clear out this evening and we'll see clear skies overnight with mild temperatures in the 20s, however it will feel colder with winds gusting over 35mph at times. Monday will be a bit breezy, especially early but then the wind will decrease and the sunshine will make 40 degrees feel even warmer.

A cold front swings through on Tuesday morning to touch off some light snow showers before noon with partly cloudy skies and a brisk wind to make mid-30s feel a touch colder. The coldest air from this front arrives Tuesday night and into Wednesday morning with lows in the teens near Lake Michigan and single digits inland under a clear sky. Sunshine will make Wednesday look pleasant but it will be the coldest day of the week, albeit actually seasonal for January.

The next big weather-maker comes on Thursday with a brief wintry mix early before the temperature climbs above freezing and transitions the mix completely over to rain with a quarter to a half an inch or more likely. Most of this wraps up by Friday with some clearing expected and a drier weekend ahead with highs in the 30s.
