Most of us picked up an inch of rain last night and have been enjoying a balmy late December day with highs in the 50s but we aren't done with the rain yet. The cold front moves through tonight to bring an additional half an inch to inch of rain across the board mainly from 9pm through 7am on Monday. Temperatures will be warmest on Monday morning with a high of 38 degrees, falling below freezing after 4pm with a gusty wind up to 35 mph but we will see some dry time again midday Monday. The back side of this large storm system moves in Monday afternoon to bring snow showers from the northwest to the southeast with snow continuing through the night. Snowfall totals in Milwaukee will be in the 1-2" range with 2-4" of snow farther northwest of Waukesha, lighter amounts are expected near Lake Michigan and in Racine and Kenosha.
Tuesday will have a few lingering morning flakes before a gradual clearing by the evening with highs just above freezing, feeling colder with a blustery wind from the west. Quiet weather is expected on New Year's Eve night with temperatures in the mid-20s at midnight. New Year's Day will be partly sunny with a seasonably mild high of 37 degrees in Milwaukee. 40s return for Thursday and Friday but rain also returns Thursday night and into Friday before changing to snow late Friday night and into the weekend.
