Light rain/snow mix tonight, 1" or less of slush expected

and last updated

Last night’s rain dropped almost 1” in Milwaukee and south, and more than a ½” north. The would have been 6-10” of snow if cold enough, but we stayed in the 40s and lower 50s during the rain. The wind picked up overnight and temps dropped to near 30 with lingering clouds. Those clouds moved out before 9am and the wind died down to less than 10 mph. Despite the sun, the NE wind kept the lakefront in the upper 30s while inland areas got into the upper 40s. Clouds increase this evening, and rain/snow mix moves in after 11pm. We will have a low near 32 so we will have this mix all night and into the morning commute. We are expecting 1” or less of slush. The main roads should be warm enough to mainly be wet.

The sunshine returns in the afternoon with a high of 45. Any slush we get tonight will quickly melt. It is an active week with rain likely Thursday afternoon with highs in the mid to upper 50s. Behind the cold front, Friday is sunny, windy (NW at 30 mph) and highs in the lower 40s. After 3 beautiful and mild weekends in a row, that streak comes to an end this weekend with highs on Saturday stuck in the upper 30s, and Sunday near 40. That is normal for this time of year.
