February record warmth ends

and last updated

It took 11 days to see the sunshine return to southeastern Wisconsin but wow did it deliver a beautiful Sunday with a record shattering high temperature of 56 degrees in Milwaukee, beating the old record of 49 degrees from 1992. The biggest issue today has been a strong wind but that will diminish tonight as the clouds begin to roll back in to keep our temperatures close to the freezing mark.

Monday will be partly to mostly cloudy with a high of 40 degrees in Milwaukee with a lighter wind. There will be a chance for some drizzle, freezing drizzle and flurries late Monday night and into Tuesday morning with little accumulation expected, however it doesn't take much freezing drizzle to cause problems on sidewalks and the roads so be cautious on Tuesday morning. Tuesday will feel more like February with the clouds, highs in the low 30s and a brisk northerly wind gusting to 25mph.

Sunshine will be more prevalent than clouds for Wednesday and Thursday but temperatures will be in the upper 20s and low 30s with a few flurries early Thursday morning. More clouds are expected for Friday and the weekend with an approaching storm system to bring the chance for snow and a wintry mix heading into Sunday.
