Ethan Whitney is thanking his lucky stars. The 16-year-old from Hortonville, Wis. got to meet, hang out and shoot hoops with his idol Jimmy Butler of the Minnesota Timberwolves as part of ESPN's "My Wish" series.

Ethan was diagnosed with cancer in August of 2017. He underwent chemotherapy and seemed to be doing better when doctors found a tumor on his brain. He is now awaiting a stem cell transplant.

For Ethan's wish, it was no surprise that the basketball lover asked to meet number 23 on the Minnesota Timberwolves, Jimmy Butler.

Butler heard about Ethan's wish and flew him and his family out to Los Angeles to meet him, according to ESPN. He gave the family a tour of his home and spent some one-on-one time with Ethan playing dominos, shooting hoops on the court and airsoft guns on the playing field.

Butler was inspired by Ethan's bravery.

Ethan undergoes the first of two stem cell transplants in August.
