GLENDALE -- The Nicolet's boys basketball team is a rare breed. Unlike nearly any team in state history, two of the top four consensus prospects in Wisconsin are playing for the same team.
Top prospect Jalen Johnson and highly-touted teammate Jamari Sibley are hoping to break new ground for the Knights.
"Jalen is a guy who I've never seen anyone like," Nicolet Coach Allan Hanson said.
"He's so selfless, he's always got team first, but at the same time I've never met a guy as competitive as he is, but still not selfish. I think that's what separates him from his peers."
"I really love (Jamari's) motor. I love his ability to score around the rim, but most import is I really love his desire to play defense. He wants to defend the opposing team's best player all the time," the coach added.
Jalen and Jamari are trying to do something that's never been done at Nicolet, winning the state championship in boys basketball.
"We're thinking about the title, but we're not taking any game for granted because we can lose any game," Sibley said.
"Winning the state championship for this school would mean everything for us," Johnson added.
"This is a just a great school, great atmosphere, great students and support system. We're just trying to do the best we can and do something that's never been done here."
