MILWAUKEE — Six Big East Player of the Week honors, the Big East single-game scoring record, the Marquette single-season scoring record, and now a semifinalist for the best player in men's college basketball.
Marquette's Markus Howard has had one of the most historic seasons in program history, and now he has a chance to do something that hasn't been done since 1978.
If Howard is named the 2019 Citizen Naismith Trophy winner, he will join Butch Lee (1978 winner) as the only other Marquette player to win this historic award.
The 5-foot-11 guard is in elite company, joining Carsen Edwards of Purdue, Ja Morant of Murray State, R.J. Barrett of Duke and Zion Williamson of Duke.
The four finalists will be announced March 19. Beginning March 22 through April 3, fans will have a chance to vote for their favorite player of the four by visiting naismithtrophy.com/vote to cast their ballot.
