Meteorologist Tyler Moore joined TMJ4 in December 2023 after working in Tampa, Florida, for almost two years. In June 2024, Tyler became an AMS Certified Broadcast Meteorologist after passing a rigorous two-part exam. Tyler is a Milwaukee native, growing up in Brookfield and graduating from Brookfield Central.
He played soccer at Brookfield Central, which took him to North Carolina to play in college at UNC Asheville. While in college, Tyler earned his degree in meteorology with a concentration in broadcasting. During that time, he also had internships at CNN in Atlanta and WKRN in Nashville. Tyler also conducted undergraduate research with his professors, hiking to remote rain gauge networks in the mountains of North Carolina to retrieve rainfall data, launching weather balloons during winter weather events, and surveying tree fall patterns after tornadoes in the Southeast.
Tyler's passion for weather started at a much younger age. Many of his elementary classmates and teachers still remember him being a weather enthusiast at a very young age.
While in Tampa, Tyler covered multiple tropical systems, including Hurricanes Ian and Nicole in 2022. Tyler is no stranger to early mornings; prior to WTSP-Tampa, he worked as the morning meteorologist at KFSM in northwest Arkansas, where he covered several tornadoes that moved in from Oklahoma and Kansas during the overnight and early morning hours. Tyler's first job was back closer to home in Rhinelander, where he worked as the morning meteorologist at WJFW, covering numerous snowstorms. Tyler believes his journey has helped him become a well-rounded meteorologist, covering everything from winter storms to tornadoes and hurricanes.
Along with the weather, Tyler loves everything outdoors, from hiking and camping to fishing and golfing. You'll often see his wife, Justine, and dog, Zion, with him on walks and hikes. And don't forget about sports! He has always supported the Packers, Bucks, and Brewers.
Tyler is excited to be back home and closer to family, working at the TV station he grew up watching. Say hello, send a weather photo, or ask a question to tyler.moore@tmj4.com!
