In Wisconsin, Tyler Herro is known as the chosen one. At one time, the Milwaukee teen was one of the most highly recruited players in the country.
Kansas, Florida, Auburn, Purdue, Indiana and Marquette all made him an offer. He verbally committed to University of Wisconsin's coach, but Kentucky won him over in the end.
"I wanted to be in a better situation for me, and Kentucky was a better fit. The offense that
they play, the system that they have with the guys going in, I have a chance to have an impact on the game."
The Whitnall High School student says he has worked hard to earn this scholarship.
"I mean coming from what I say is a small town right outside of Milwaukee, not a lot of kids can make it or go D-1 for a full ride scholarship. I think it's a testament to how hard I work."
His father Chris Herro says while he would have liked Tyler to go to Wisconsin, being only an hour and a half away, he supports the decision.
"He has to do what he has to chase a dream. If you don't follow in that dream, you're going to have regrets," Chris continued.
Love him or hate him for rejecting the Badgers for the Wildcats, the choice was his to make. The more you hate, the better he plays.
"I see the comments, [they] just makes me want to work even harder...Everything people say makes me one to work harder."
