The Marquette men's lacrosse team is back in the NCAA tournament for the second straight season after capturing the Big East title over the weekend in Providence, RI.

The Golden Eagles (8-7) will travel to South Bend, Ind. on Sunday to take on the fourth-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8-5) in the first round.

Notre Dame beat Marquette 11-10 in South Bend last month.

The Golden Eagles won the Big East title last season, but entered this year's conference tournament with just a 6-7 record after losing several key seniors from the 2016 roster.

However, despite losing to second-ranked Denver at home by eight goals just one week prior, Marquette shocked the lacrosse world with an 11-8 victory over the same Pioneers squad in the semifinals.

Marquette advanced to the championship game, where the Golden Eagles took down the Providence Friars 10-9 on their home turf.

As luck would have it, should Marquette advance past Notre Dame this Sunday, it would be matched up with the winner of Air Force and Denver.
