he nation's longest active winning streak is on the line as Kimberly seeks their fifth straight state championship when they take on Sun Prairie in the WIAA Division 1 Championship game.
The Kimberly Papermakers last loss came all the way back in 2012 at the hands of Arrowhead in the Level 3 Playoff matchup. Since then, its been 69 consecutive wins for the Papermakers and four state championships stretching between Division 1 and 2.
The Papermakers have won their 13 games this season by an average of 20 points, but four of those games have been decided by 10 points or less.
As for Sun Prairie ,they're back in the state championship game for the first time since 2012 and haven't won a state championship since 1995. Coach Brian Kaminsky's squad is a well balanced offense but their calling card is their defense, allowing just 99 total points all season (8 points per game).
If the game turns out to be a close one, Sun Prairie may have an edge with special teams and the kicking game with three-time Big Eight Conference kicker of the year in Alex Oakley.
Kimberly and Sun Prairie kick off at 4:00 on Friday. Justin Garcia and Barry Nelson have the call at 3:45 p.m.
