Praise.
Credit the @packers for moving around the board to get picks while still acquiring a blue-chip player. Alexander is an exceptional cover corner with press man skills. He is the perfect CB for Mike Pettine's aggressive scheme. #NFLDraft

Packers director of college scouting Jon-Eric Sullivan on Jaire Alexander's height (5-10 ¼): "He doesn't play like a little guy. He's very competitive. He gets in people's business. He talks a little bit, most corners do." https://t.co/e8iIYP639w pic.twitter.com/TCJlLHtprl

9:12 p.m.
"Wouldn't surprise me to see the Packers go wide receiver in the second round at all." - Wayne Larrivee
9:07 p.m.
"Scouts say he's twitchy and quick. You like a guy at cornerback who is that." - Wayne Larrivee
"He's got that ability to develop for a year or two years." - Jeff Falconio
9:03 p.m.
#Packers trade back 4 spots to take Louisville cornerback Jaire Alexander. Ran a blazing 4.38 40 at combine. Should slide in as starting slot immediately. And they pick up an extra 2019 first-round pick.
Larger picture doesn't look too bad.

Pick for the Packers: Jaire Alexander, CB, Louisville.
8:58 p.m.
Packers trade with Seahawks...now on the clock!
Green Bay gets 18 and 248th pick (Round 7); Seahawks get 27th pick, 76th pick (3rd) and 186th pick (6th)
8:57 p.m
Derwin James, another possible Packers target, goes to San Diego. Seattle on the clock...but note the tweet below...
8:50 p.m.
A guy the Packers may have considered....Tremaine Edmunds, goes to Buffalo. But...
Keep an eye on the 18th pick. Gutekunst could try to move up and get Seattle's pick. Seahawks don't have a second or third.
— Tom Silverstein (@TomSilverstein) April 27, 2018
8:45 p.m.
Kolton Miller, a tackle from UCLA, goes to Oakland. Again, more defensive players possibly available for Green Bay now at 27.
8:42 p.m.
Hmmmm....
So the Saints traded a 2019 first-round pick to draft ... a project. Marcus Davenport to New Orleans, not the #Packers. This is pretty wild.
— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) April 27, 2018
8:37 p.m.
One scout this week was adamant #Packers should absolutely draft LB Tremaine Edmunds if possible. "Edmunds can rush," he said, "but might be Urlacher."
Welp, they had their chance. Brian Gutekunst decided to stockpile assets for next year.
— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) April 27, 2018
8:33 p.m.
The Packers have reportedly traded down to 27 with New Orleans, per Adam Schefter of ESPN. Ian Rapoport of NFL.com says the Packers will get the 147th pick (5th round) and next year's first round pick.
8:29 p.m.
Washington picks Da'Ron Payne, a DT from Alabama. The Packers are on the clock!
8:24 p.m.
Vita Vea, a defensive tackle from Washington, goes to Tampa Bay. One of two guys, James or Edmunds, will be there for the Packers if they stay at 14.
8:19 p.m.
A guy the Packers potentially wanted, Minkah Fitzpatrick, is gone. A safety from Alabama goes to Miami.
8:17 p.m.
Packers QB1 on NFL Draft QB 10, whom he has mentored.

Hmmm....
8:10 p.m.
As he said: TRADE!
Trade! The #AZCardinals are now on the clock, trading with the #Raiders. Big move for a QB.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 27, 2018
8:07 p.m.:
Great point.
McGlinchey to the 49ers at No. 9 is potentially huge for #Packers. Assuming Vita Vea goes No. 13 to Washington, GB should get crack at a top-tier defensive prospect.
— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) April 27, 2018
8:06 p.m.:
Mike McGlinchey, a tackle from Notre Dame, is now a 49er. Secondary help is still out there for Green Bay
8:01 p.m.
The Chicago Bears have their guy. Another defensive talent.
The #Bears pick is in… and it’s #UGA LB Roquan Smith. They get the centerpiece for their defense.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 27, 2018
7:55 p.m.:
Josh Allen is a Buffalo Bill after that trade.
The #Bills did not love the California QBs. This was all about #Wyoming QB Josh Allen and that’s who they trade up to take. He goes No. 7.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 27, 2018
7:51 p.m.
Buffalo trading up to Tampa Bay and No. 7, per source.
— Adam Schefter (@AdamSchefter) April 27, 2018
TRADE TIME! (Not the Packers.)
7:48 p.m.
Quentin Nelson of Notre Dame, an offensive guard who has fantastic reviews, is gone. Not a Packers target, though.
The #Colts did not get enough trade action… and take #ND G Quenton Nelson. He was the top player on some boards. Nothing more important than protecting Andrew Luck.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 27, 2018
7:44 p.m.
Bradley Chubb, another Packers target at defensive end, is a Denver Bronco. Will they stand pat or slide down?
7:36 p.m.
Denzel Ward, a possible Packers target, goes to the Browns at No. 4.
7:34 p.m.
Yes, Ted Thompson is in the draft room at 1265 Lombardi Avenue in Green Bay. But for the first time in 14 years, he's not the one pulling the trigger.
Take a look inside the draft room in Green Bay.

7:29 p.m.
Sam Darnold out of USC is the Jets' pick at quarterback. The more quarterbacks that go there, the more enticing and possible a Packers trade-up may be for a defensive stalwart.
7:22 p.m.
The Giants take Saquon Barkley at No. 2. If the Packers want to move up and get Chubb, he could fall? Perhaps, as thought by Packers Draft Central pundit and former NFL scout John Dodds. We'll see.

Cleveland starts it off, a team that is 1-34 their last 35 games. They pick...
With the No. 1 overall pick, the #Browns select QB Baker Mayfield from #Oklahoma. Just like we all expected when the season ended.
— Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) April 27, 2018
7:09 p.m.
The Cleveland Browns are officially on the clock. It's gonna get nuts.
6:55 p.m.
Makes sense - from the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Ryan Wood:
As the 2018 NFL draft commences, here's how I see #Packers top five needs, in order:
1) Edge rusher
2) Slot corner
3) Receiver
4) Right tackle
5) Tight end— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) April 26, 2018

More reason to believe the Packers want to move up.
#PAckers are definitely trying to move up and I've heard from multiple sources it's Minkah Fitzpatrick they want. #NFLDraft

5:31 p.m.
It's possible that tonight may have more possible first round picks for the Packers at this stage of the waiting game than any other in recent memory.
Why? The greater likelihood than ever that the Packers will move up, or that they could trade down.
Of course, that's on top of the Josh Rosen or Josh Allen situations that are making the No. 1 pick the most fluid we have had in a while.
5:20 p.m.
Cheeseheads have arrived in North Texas!

Nice decorations on the field of AT&T Stadium in the heart of Texas. After all, it is Lambeau South and the Packers are 4-0 there.

Original story
12 times over the next three days, the Green Bay Packers will get a chance to select the next part of their long-term future.
Or GM Brian Gutekunst could select to trade up (as has been reported that they are considering), or trade down, using some of those 12 picks as bargaining chips to make changes in their draft order and free them up to select some of the NFL Draft's superstars.
The next 72 hours will be some of the most intriguing moments off the field in recent Packers history, as the new general manager will make interesting decisions.
Will he follow the pathway of his longtime mentor, 13-year GM Ted Thompson who constructed a team that won Super Bowl XLV, qualified for four NFC Championship Games and nine playoff berths?
Or will he choose a different path?
Stay tuned. This will be fun.
