Preview

Today is as must-win as a Packers Gameday can be in Week 6 of the NFL campaign.

No, the San Francisco 49ers are not an anticipated playoff opponent for the Green Bay Packers. Partially because they themselves are not playoff caliber.

But also because the Packers have yet to truly prove they are playoff caliber, with a hobbled Aaron Rodgers leading an often underachieving offense and a defense that has not truly come together for four quarters, save a domination of the truly subpar Buffalo Bills.

For a 2-2-1 team to get to the playoffs in a rugged and highly balanced NFC this year and a loaded NFC North division with Chicago and Minnesota both with playoff aspirations, Green Bay will probably have to win 8 of its final 11 games. Those games will include four contests against current division leaders (Chicago, Los Angeles Rams, Miami and New England) and the Vikings.

That means that for the Packers to have any realistic shot at the 2018 postseason, they must win tonight.

They will enter the game not exactly healthy, either. They have eight players questionable, including two of their top three receivers and talented young cornerback Jaire Alexander.

It's must-win time in October, Packers fans. And it will remain that way for a long while.

Buckle up. And stay tuned.
