Preview
This Packers Gameday may be the most challenging of the 2018 regular season as the Packers face the undefeated Los Angeles Rams on the road.
Only two teams in the NFL score more points per game than the Rams. Only three teams in the league allow fewer points per game than Los Angeles.
Meanwhile, despite their many failings, the Packers still remain 3-2-1 and in second place in the NFC North, just a half-game behind the Minnesota Vikings. The numbers bear out a lot...they have a winning record despite giving up at least 30 points in three of their last four games, and they hadn't scored 30 points all year until last week's win over the 49ers.
Now, it's not because they can't move the football or stop teams. Aaron Rodgers and company are 4th in offensive yards gained while Mike Pettine's defense is 8th in yards allowed.
But the Packers will need to start fast against Los Angeles, something they've struggled with all year, particularly on defense. They've given up 12 first-half touchdowns, but just four in the second half.
The Packers have had 13 days of rest, and they'll need it against the sport's only team without a loss.
It's the first of five games in five different cities between now and the Sunday after Thanksgiving - all against teams with winning records. This stretch could decide whether the Packers are playoff contenders in December...or not.
If they somehow get it done today (and they are prohibitive underdogs), it sends a message that they belong with the elite.
Stay tuned.
