Preview

After today, dreams may be deferred. Or dead. Or rising to new life.

That is the power of what is at stake tonight for some men currently wearing the green and gold of the Green Bay Packers, and the decision to come in the next few days on whether those individuals will ever wear it again.

The Packers will make those decisions after tonight's preseason game in Kansas City. It's the last opportunity for some to make an impression on Coach Mike McCarthy, general manager Brian Gutekunst and company.

Jobs, depth charts and much more will come from the results of tonight.

On Wednesday, the Packers pretty much clinched what will happen at one position group - that being quarterback, as DeShone Kizer is now the backup to a much-richer Aaron Rodgers following the trade of Brett Hundley to Seattle. Tim Boyle will take the third string slot.

But so many other position battles are at stake - including the absolutely stacked wide receiver position. Trevor Davis, Jake Kumerow, J'Mon Moore, Equanimeous St. Brown, Marquez Valdes-Scantling and DeAngelo Yancey are all fighting for about three, maximum four roster spots.

The offensive line is a place where improvement is necessary after a shoddy performance last week in Oakland.

That's just the tip of the iceberg in the battle for roster spots that will ensue tonight at about 7:30 p.m.

A battle which could determine the courses of dozens of football players' dreams.

For that reason, don't believe that this is the least important of preseason games. To these young men, it might be the most important games of their lives.

Stay tuned.
