The shelves are shocked with Packers gear at the Green and Gold Zone in West Allis, but with Christmas just around the corner, the store is empty.

Owner Gary Anders says the Packers poor season has had a trickle-down effect on business.

“Right now we have no customers here. At this time of year, normally there should be a half a dozen people here all year long,” said Anders.

Anders said he was not surprised by the news of Mike McCarthy being fired and hopes this change will spice things up for the team.

“The hope is that a new coach will bring in a new enthusiasm,” said Anders.

Over at 540 AM ESPN, there has been no shortage of callers weighing in on their thoughts of the abrupt firing.

“Everybody just wants to talk and get their thoughts in on Mike McCarthy,” said Gabe Neitzel, radio personality.

Neitzel said most callers feel it was about time for the team to move on.

“The way the team played yesterday, it was clear they haven’t been responding to him so it was time to let him go,” said Neitzel.
