One of the Green Bay Packers' talented young running backs is set to miss the first two games of the 2018 NFL season.
NFL Network's Mike Garafolo says that the NFL has suspended Aaron Jones for two games next year.
The violation involves the league's substance abuse policy.
Ian Rapoport of NFL.com says the suspension involved an arrest in 2017, where he was admitted to smoking marijuana.
There was no initial word about an appeal.
An NFL spokesperson released the following statement about the suspension:
Aaron Jones of the Green Bay Packers has been suspended without pay for the first two games of the 2018 regular season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
Jones will be eligible to return to the Packers’ active roster on Monday, September 17 following the team’s September 16 game against the Minnesota Vikings.
Jones is eligible to participate in all preseason practices and games.
Jones tweeted that he will accept his suspension, saying he regrets the mistake he made last year.
