"I'm used to giving a lot of speeches. I was actually pretty nervous talking to these guys."
Sometimes, even the most powerful man in Congress gets starstruck. It happened to House Speaker Paul Ryan Thursday when he took in Green Bay Packers practice, addressed the team, had one-on-one time with Coach Mike McCarthy. His kids even got to meet Aaron Rodgers.
"That was something my kids will never forget for the rest of their life. That was very cool...my favorite player," said Ryan.
"As a lifelong Packer fan, it was pretty cool to just meet the team."
Ryan, who lives in Janesville, came to the Packers camp as part of a documentary with the NFL. He says he comes home every weekend from the nation's capital and is able to fully dial in to the Packers during the fall.
He believes this year's talent base is strong enough to win Super Bowl LI.
"I think this is a very deep team," he said.. "The talent, the draft was good. I feel very excited about this team. If we keep ourselves happy, we can really go all the way this year. I don't just say that every year. I feel really good about our team this year."
What did he tell the team?
"I told them how much we love the Packers, how much we support them. The community loves these guys. It's just great to be there. I just closed by saying 'Go Pack!'"
