'God and Packers': Why families say they have to come to Packers Family Night

GREEN BAY — Family Night is much more than a scrimmage for Packers fans. A regular season NFL game is costly and can mean the kids cannot always go. So, many families use the day to introduce their children to the Green and Gold in person.

“This is our first time at Lambeau, and we kind of wanted our kids to experience it while they are young,” said Angele Smith of Glendale.

“This is a great time to share with my kids and my family, and we do it on a budget,” said Greg Talbot of West Bend.

Talbot said tickets to a regular season NFL game with his sons are too expensive.

“Either me and my wife come, or we get a babysitter. Or, on the rare occasion we are gifted tickets, we will come and enjoy the game, but we can’t afford to come to a game during the regular season,” said Talbot.

Family Night at Lambeau is not just about football.

There was a full day of activities including tricycle races, tug of war and football bowling outside the stadium.

All to give the kids plenty to do before seeing their team finally take the field at Lambeau.

“God and Packers,” said Smith. “God first, but then Packers.”
