GREEN BAY — Listen up cheeseheads, we have something else to be proud of besides players like Aaron Rodgers and Davante Adams.
A new study by ESPNrevealed that Green Bay has the best stadium in the entire NFL. Way to go Lambeau!
ESPN looked at seven different things when ranking NFL stadiums: atmosphere, features, traditions, tailgating, location, cost, and history.
According to ESPN, they got their ranking by "surveying 31 NFL Nation reporters, collecting cost information from SeatGeek for tickets and Team Marketing for concessions and parking. We did plenty of independent research and had some lively discussions."
Lambeau ended up getting a No. 1 ranking in atmosphere, traditions, and history. It got a No. 3 ranking in features and tailgating, No. 27 in location, and No. 24 in cost.
For each stadium,ESPN wrote about what's good about it and what could use work.
"Lambeau has history as the host of three NFL championship games, including the "Ice Bowl," and has been home to the Packers during runs to 15 division titles, nine conference titles and seven overall championships (including four Super Bowl titles)," wrote ESPN.
They continued on by saying, "one aspect of the stadium seemed to stand out among the rest: the Lambeau Leap. Packers players jumping into the stands following a touchdown has become a Sunday staple in Green Bay and on NFL RedZone. Bottom line: This is THE bucket list stadium in the NFL."
Where Lambeau Field took a hit is location and price.
ESPN wrote, "An overall lack of hotels, restaurants, bars, and points of interest in the immediate area are mostly mitigated by the stadium's extraordinary tailgate scene, and it does have the Titletown complex... Lambeau's cost is also on the higher end, but that's the price of success and having the best stadium in the league."
NFL Nation also commented on Lambeau Field saying that even through renovations, history at Lambeau remained intact.
"The Packers kept a strip of brick -- embedded into the new concrete -- from the original walkway to the field. Above it is a plaque that reads: 'Proud generations of Green Bay Packers Players, World Champions a record 13 times, have run over this very concrete to Greatness.' It's enough to give you chills," wrote Rob Demovsky with NFL Nation.
Our friends the Minnesota Vikings came in at No. 5 with U.S. Bank Stadium and the Chicago Bears came in way down at No. 22 with Soldier Field.
Right behind Lambeau at No. 2 was the Seattle Seahawk's CenturyLink Field.
