CHICAGO — The Chicago Bears have hired former Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine as their new senior defensive assistant, sources tell NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport.
It was announced in late January that Pettine would not remain with the Packers into the 2021-22 season. Former assistant head coach / linebackers for the Los Angeles Rams, Joe Barry, replaced Pettine on the team, the Packers confirmed earlier this week.
Rapoport reported on Wednesday that Pettine will serve as a veteran sounding board for incoming Bears defensive coordinator, Sean Desai.
The Bears have not officially confirmed the hire.
