MILWAUKEE — The Brewers are adding some pitching power to their bullpen ahead of the July 31st trade deadline.
The Brew Crew added right-handed pitcher Jordan Lyles from the Pittsburgh Pirates. Lyles is 5-7 with a 5.36 ERA this season. The 9-year veteran has only posted one winning season when he went 7-4 in 2014 with the Colorado Rockies. This is his second stint with the Brewers. He played in 11 games for Milwaukee in 2018 finishing with a 1-0 record. He has a career ERA of 5.29.
The Brewers have been in need of more healthy pitchers since four are currently on the disabled list. As a team Milwaukee has a 4.68 ERA which ranks 20th in the league.
In return, the Brewers are sending right-hander Cody Ponce back to the Pirates. Ponce was playing in the Brewer's minor league system. So far this season he has a 3.29 ERA.
