BROOKFIELD — For this week's "Behind the Hoops" we make a stop at Brookfield Central to visit the Lancers who are the reigning state champions. This team is deep and they've got personalities.
"We have six guys that could be our leading scorer on any given day and what is really impressive about our team is we share the ball and when we find the hot guy," said Head Coach Dan Wandrey. "He's the guy we're getting the ball too on a regular basis."
Two of their starters like where they're team is headed this season.
"We definitely didn't start off getting the respect that we deserve," Malik Abdul-Wahid. "People were saying 'oh they're state champs we lost so many pieces,' but I think we're starting to show people that we're just as good or even better than last year."
Star forward David Joplin brings a lot of game to the table.
"I don't want to be cocky and all. It's tough especially now that I'm expanding my range," said Joplin. "I've been focusing all year on scoring the basketball, it's been kinda my role is to get buckets."
