The Milwaukee Bucks officially unveiled plans Thursday for its Esports team in the inaugural season of the NBA 2K League.

Seventeen NBA teams will field digital teams with five players on each team that will compete in head-to-head matchups of the video game NBA 2K18.

Milwaukee's digital initiative is called "Bucks Gaming," which comes complete with a fancy new logo.

"This isn't just a flash in the pan. There's 30 million people a year playing NBA 2K. There are now leagues, there are now events that have streamings that do more audience than the Super Bowl," Bucks President Peter Feigin said. "This is a participatory game that really has captured the world and we want to be on the cutting edge and have a finger on the pulse of what's going on."

Each team will feature five gamers.

"We will be starting tryouts, which is incredible, online, which is open to everyone who plays NBA 2K around the world in January, and start a draft two months later," Feigin said.

The team will begin playing in April.
