Milwaukee really is on the national and international stage right now with the Bucks' deep playoff run. Fans from far beyond Wisconsin are happy to be here.
Within an hour on Thursday afternoon, we found Bucks fans visiting from China, Winnipeg, Canada, and Louisiana.
Some were here to watch Game 5 with diehards in the Deer District. Others splurged on tickets to be inside Fiserv Forum for all the action.
“I watch many NBA games in China,” said Jing Yu Wang who has been studying at UW-Madison for nearly a year. “This is my first real NBA game, so it’s very exciting. All my family and friends back home are really jealous. We bought tickets online. It cost us a lot but we are so excited.”
“Yes, I’m from Canada, but I’m here for the Bucks,” said Conrad, who lives in Winnipeg. “I’m proud to be a Bucks fan. I’ve liked the team for years, and have followed the rise of Giannis. I don’t hate the Raptors, but I’m cheering for the Bucks. It’s been really cool to see and experience Milwaukee. We’re impressed with the city. We had a trip planned to the Dells for my daughter's birthday so I made my family drive to Milwaukee for Bucks!"
“We did some budgeting and some playing around online, and finally found a decent deal for tickets,” said Schlacey Nunez from Louisiana. “We might be close enough to get sprayed with some sweat form the players! We were coming to town anyway for a high school speech and debate tournament, so we decided to come early and see a game. We love Giannis. We have made the Bucks our team because the New Orleans Pelicans are so bad. Going to an NBA playoff game is a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
