MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers' two biggest rivals have picked up Washington Nationals star players for the 2018 playoff stretch run, according to reports.
Craig Mish of SiriusXM reports that the Chicago Cubs have picked up infielder Daniel Murphy off waivers.
Yahoo Sports' Jeff Passan reports that the St. Louis Cardinals now have first baseman Matt Adams on a waiver claim.
Entering play Tuesday, the Cubs have a three game lead on the Brewers in the NL Central standings, while the Cardinals are among three teams a half-game back of the Brewers for the first NL Wild Card slot.
Murphy has a .300 batting average, .784 OPS, 6 home runs and 29 RBI in 56 games. He had offseason knee surgery before the 2018 season.
Adams has a .249 average, .842 OPS, 18 home runs and 48 RBI.
