CHICAGO — We may have some bubblegum to thank for Christian Yelich's three-run home run Friday night.

Yelich's first two at-bats during Friday night's game weren't what you'd expect from the Brewers MVP. What we mean is he struck out both times. And according to Yelich, he wasn't too happy about that.

In an interview following the game, Yelich said, "I was so terrible up there tonight that I decided since I was DH, I was down in the tunnel getting loose and I was like, 'I'm going to put gum in my mouth and chew that and not think about how sh***y my at-bats have been.'"

So, he did. Yelich started chewing on a piece of gum and went up for his third at-bat.

What came next is what Brewers fans have been waiting for - a three-run home run from the former MVP.

After Yelich's interview about the home run, Manager Craig Counsell commented on it saying, "Well, this is a high-tech organization. Guys are coming up with some new and innovative methods."

Whether it was from warming up in the tunnel, or chewing gum while at the plate, Brewers fans are grateful because that home run led to the Milwaukee Brewers beating the Chicago Cubs, 4-3.

The Brewers are scheduled to take on the Cubs again on Saturday at 2:20 p.m.
