The historical rivalry of Miller versus Coors is coming back just in time for Thursday’s series against the Colorado Rockies.
In 2008, MillerCoors was created. Miller and Coors beers are made and owned by the same parent organization, Molson Coors Brewing Company. But that doesn’t mean beer lovers love them equally.
That beer rivalry was easily revealed with our own unscientific survey in Milwaukee. We had four people sip Miller Lite and Coors Light, not telling them which is which and asking which beer they prefer. Every one of them chose the Miller Lite.
The beer taste test only highlighted how serious Brewers fans feel about their team and their city and the playoffs.
“Miller is from Milwaukee, Coors is from Colorado. Go Brewers!” said one participant.
The historical beer battle dates back to the 19th century. Miller Brewing started in 1855 and is headquartered in Milwaukee. Coors Brewing was founded in 1873 at the foot of Rocky Mountains in Golden, Colorado.
When both brands are in your family, do you pick favorites?
“We’re cheering for beer overall,” said MillerCoors General Manager, Jim Kanter.
But Kanter will pick a team.
“Go Milwaukee Brewers and we’re going to win!”
In case you were curious, Coors Light is the second best-selling beer in the nation, Miller Lite takes 3rd place and Bud Light takes the top spot.
