Under Counsell, the Brewers won the NL Central Division in Game 163 against their rival Chicago Cubs.
Counsell coached his fourth season in Milwaukee in 2018, and it was his second consecutive season with a winning record.
Along with Counsell, the Colorado Rockies Manager Bud Black and the Atlanta Braves Manager Brian Snitker were named finalists.
The Brewers eliminated the Rockies from the postseason in the NLDS. The Braves were knocked out by the Dodgers, who went on to play the Brewers in the NLCS.
