MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Brewers have made a major move as they try to boost their roster for a postseason run.

The Brewers are trading with the Kansas City Royals to pick up third baseman Mike Moustakas.

Milwaukee trades outfielder Brett Phillips and pitcher Jorge Lopez.

"We are excited to bring Mike into our organization," said GM David Stearns in a news release. "Through this deadline period, we have prioritized adding an impact bat to our lineup, and Mike provides just that."

A report from MLB.com's Adam McCalvy says that Moustakas will play Saturday night, and Travis Shaw will move to second base.

Moustakas has hit .249 this year with a .778 OPS, 20 home runs and 62 RBI's.

Moustakas is a two-time All-Star, a former teammate of Lorenzo Cain and a fellow champion from the 2015 Kansas City Royals.
