MILWAUKEE -- In the bottom of the third inning against the Chicago Cubs at Miller Park Tuesday night, Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Lorenzo Cain proved he's one of the smartest players in baseball.
Swinging at a 3-2 pitch from Cubs pitcher Tyler Chatwood with outfielder Christian Yelich already on second base, Cain hit a weak single back up the middle toward second.
On any given night, the Cubs defense should have gotten at least one out out of the play. But a heads-up baserunning decision from Cain allowed both him and Yelich to avoid getting tagged out as three Cubs players stood around wondering what just happened.

Just moments later, third baseman Travis Shaw hit a two-RBI double that made the score 4-0 Milwaukee.
