Hall of Famer Bob Uecker said receiving the Citizen’s Support for our Armed Services award is one of the biggest honors of his life.

The ceremony was held at the Wisconsin Club Monday.

You could feel Uecker’s love and passion for the armed forces at the event.

“I've been a big supporter of the military for a long long time. I served way back when prior to my career as a semi-baseball player. I think had I not went on to baseball I would've stayed in the service. I enjoyed my time as an active member I've thought about that a lot over the years,” Uecker said.

Lt. Gen. Daniel P. Leaf says Mr. Baseball coming anywhere has to be a big draw.

"I think it shows that it matters. It matters to the service members who to get to attend it. It matters to the community and it helps cement that connection between the community and the armed forces,” he said.

It was a special night for the former military man. You can expect him back in the booth for the next Brewers homestand.
