Brewers fever is sweeping the city as the team closes in on a playoff spot. Fans were already talking about October baseball at the afternoon tailgate before the Pirates game Friday night at Miller Park.
“We’re on a roll and this is the time to roll,” said Jerry Streets.
Streets was with Joe Gagliano tailgating outside the stadium. They have been Brewers fans since they were kids. They remember taking to the streets of Milwaukee during the 1982 World Series.
“Driving down Wisconsin Avenue with the flags hooting and hollering. What a great time!” exclaimed Gagliano.
“It just brings us a lot of excitement, you know. We remember back in ‘82 and it’s in the forefront of our minds and we are waiting to go again now,” said Streets.
They are so passionate about the Brew Crew they brought their kids to the stadium to throw them an engagement party.
They aren’t the only ones using the game to connect with family and friends. Wisconsin native John Beyer came in from Alabama to go to the game with his best friend.
“I flew in just for this game, and the Badger game and Packer game, but I flew in because we have such Brewer fever,” said Beyer.
The fever is sweeping up fans!
“We have never been this close this late in the season,” said Larry Mueller of Hubertus.
“We are looking really good,” said Mike Perlewitz of Waukesha.
And they say they will even welcome in some Brewer bandwagon fans.
“Well take them all. We’ll them all. Never too late jump onboard,” said Streets.
