Too often, friends and family members do not know what to do if someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. We know a cold passes eventually, and hips heal. Your friend or loved one returns to normalcy.
But Alzheimer’s does not go away; there is no cure or return to a normal life. And, a person can live with Alzheimer’s for a decade or longer. It seems so different from any other illness or medical circumstance. So family and friends often stay away – not because they don’t love and care, but because they do not know how to respond.
Marty’s overall objective is to reinforce the importance of caregivers taking care of themselves, to focus on capturing moments of joy, to let go of the person with Alzheimer’s who once was and embrace the person who now is.
Marty is available to speak to your business, group, church, school, club or other organization.
