Many people have lost their jobs during the pandemic making it hard to purchase fresh produce and other food items. Food insecurity is not new to Milwaukee, but the pandemic has only made things worse.

To combat this issue a group of organizers got together to open the MKE Community Fridge that is open 24/7 to the public. The produce is either donated by community members or purchased from local farmers. We spoke to Sarah Tramonte and Hataya Johnson, two core volunteers, about how they hope to help provide food in a "food desert" and get the community involved in keeping its members fed.
