Ryan Jenkins is an Anchor and Enterprise Reporter for TMJ4 News, the NBC-affiliate in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He currently leads TMJ4's weekend evening newscasts.
He joined the team in January 2020. During his time in Milwaukee, Ryan has been on the front-line during coverage of the Coronavirus pandemic, the 2020 Democratic National Convention, and was on-the-ground reporting during the civil unrest following the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha - working to bring real-time depth and context to situations.
On a positive note, Ryan anchored part of TMJ4's coverage of the historic championship run by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2021 and proudly helped lead coverage during the first-ever television broadcast of Milwaukee's Juneteenth Day Celebration and again in 2022.
Ryan also digs deep into hot-button issues as an enterprise reporter. He produces weekly in-depth pieces that seek and share solutions to problems impacting residents of southeast Wisconsin.
Ryan is new to Wisconsin, but not the Midwest; he was born in Elgin, Illinois. He comes to TMJ4 after spending time in the Illinois/Iowa "Quad Cities" as a Multimedia Journalist and Fill-In Anchor at WQAD-TV. He covered the historic flood of 2019, the race leading up to the 2020 presidential election, and the 2018 gubernatorial race in Illinois.
Prior to being on-air, Ryan was a video editor and served as a digital content producer. He graduated from Augustana College in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Multimedia Journalism and Mass Communications.
As the Editor-In-Chief of the Augustana Observer Newspaper in 2016, he was in Washington D.C. to report on the inauguration of President Donald Trump, and the concurrent Women’s March on Washington.
In college, Ryan interned at the network level for CBS News in New York City. He worked alongside top-notch journalists as they covered national news events, including devastating hurricanes and the 2017 Las Vegas mass shooting.
Passionate about storytelling, inclusion, diversity, and representation across multiple platforms, Ryan’s love for news stems from a desire to better understand and connect with the people in the community around him. You can email him at ryan.jenkins@tmj4.com.
