MILWAUKEE — The person who made a violent threat towards the three-day Mexican Fiesta event this weekend has been arrested, according to event organizers.
In a statement made on Facebook, event officials said, "We've received notice from the Milwaukee Police Department confirming that the individual responsible for posting a threat to the festival, has been detained. At this time, the investigation will continue and there is no credible threat to Mexican Fiesta. We hope you can join us with peace of mind for this wonderful weekend event."
On Saturday, the Mexican Fiesta and Milwaukee police, were notified about a possible threat at the cultural celebration. The message was posted online and contained violent rhetoric. This comes just weeks after a mass shooting in El Paso in which the shooter said he was targeting Mexicans.
Despite this threat, the organizers said that the tens of thousands of people that go to Mexican Fiesta have nothing to worry about and there is no longer any type of credible threat.
