MILWAUKEE — Third Street Tavern has a new name and a new identity.

"We really wanted to bring a new community space with something a little bit interactive even with COVID, even with social distancing,” says general manager Jack Romans. “This is a little bit of an arcade bar so we've got a lot of games, classic games that you might know, like NBA Jam and NFL Blitz.”

The COVID-19 pandemic has really penetrated sales here. They were closed for two months which cost them an estimated $400,000 at the cash register. But what helps them now is that they have space.

"Luckily for us, we have about 4,000 square feet so it's a really big space so social distancing is easy,” Romans says. “Something we're doing starting this weekend is we're starting a 10 percent discount if you’re wearing your mask. So if you come in and you’re wearing your mask you get a little bit of a discount.”

Romans is banking on the food and drink to flip their business around.

"The Third Street Burger is a really simple burger,” he explains. “Onions, pickles, cheese, and it's a double-patty burger. Our number-one drink is our frozen Wisconsin Old Fashioned. We use a homemade old fashioned mix and what really makes it special is that it's a slushie style.”

Third Street Tavern is open Thursday through Sunday each week.
