We're Open: New restaurant Triciclo takes advantage of outdoor spaces

MILWAUKEE — We're Open is making a return visit to Triciclo on Vliet street so we wanted to know what has changed since the last time we visited this Peruvian restaurant.

"The weather has changed for the better so taking advantage of the nice weather we're able to open up our garage door. We have a built-in bar now like a walk-up bar where people are able to order food and receive their takeout... we do also have a green space across the street on 38th which is a city-owned property that we kind of beautified. The tables are out there as well just for extra social distancing," said owner Amy Narr.

Because of the uptick in COVID cases, they decided not to open for dine-in just yet to play it safe, which hurts their sales.

"Our sales have dropped by fifty percent so it's been hard for sure especially as a new restaurant lots of costs to cover a lot of the initial investment that was trying to work through so it's difficult," said Narr.

What makes things even worse for Triciclo and Narr is the restaurant is new.

"We're young business owners and it's a new restaurant, the restaurant industry is already tough so to have this happen three months after we opened was devastating," said Narr.

Tricicilo is located at 3801 W Vliet St. in Milwaukee.
