WEST ALLIS — John Cervantes has owned Jonny Hammers here in West Allis for the past 20 years. It's open for dine-in, but business is not the same with the new city limitations.
"Sixty percent or more we're down," Cervantes estimates. "I don't know why it's down that much. I think people are still scared about coming in. We didn't have to-go orders before all of this happened but even now the phones are ringing off the hook all of the time and now the bar is pretty much empty."

They've done big take-out business with their award-winning wings during the pandemic, and it's also brought in some new faces.
"It's kept us alive through all of this," Cervantes says. "We were able to make some money during that time, pay some of the bills. Then I also found out that it brought new people in because there is a group of people that even when the bars were open, weren't as comfortable coming in to eat. So new people have tried our food and now they've become regulars also."
