WAUWATOSA — BelAir Cantina on North Avenue in Wauwatosa is back open serving its customers with care.
"When the pandemic hit, what was going through my mind was how can I take care of our communities?" says Director of Operations Matt Roman Lopez. "How can we be of service to our communities? There was never a question of will we continue to operate. We knew we were going to have to change how we were operating, but the most important thing on our minds was how were we going to take care of our communities and team members."
Social distancing and safety are number one here. They have their own pickup station for to-go orders and a large patio with its own fountain.
"It's amazing for business and more importantly to give that confidence to our guests and make them feel comfortable," Lopez says. "I think it's been a stressful past few months for everyone and to have enough space to come and enjoy dinner with their family and be outside and feel comfortable about it is really fulfilling."
What the customers get is consistently good food.
"The Carne Asada and the Spicy Pollo are definitely fighting for the top spot," Lopez says. "I would say the Carne Asada and the traditional-ness of it is something that is really close to a street taco that people can get anywhere in Mexico or here in the U.S. so people gravitate towards it, but then the spicy Pollo is that unique taste."
