Despite having to close their location in downtown Milwaukee, Urban Beets in Wawautosa was thriving.
"We were on a great upswing before the COVID happened. Now it's been challenging but because of our regulars and the great staff that we have, we're just pushing forward and trying to do our best here," says Rebecca Dietmeyer, general manager at Urban Beets.
Staying open through the Safer at Home order with curbside pickup, Rebecca says it's great to see customers back inside.
"It's great to see our regulars that we missed so much and wondered how they were. So it's nice to see their faces and that they are bringing their friends in too," says Rebecca.
As a vegan restaurant, Urban Beets is all about the plants. But don't worry, there is plenty of flavor in these dishes.
"We have something called the Nacho Philly, which is a sautéed mushroom, onion, red pepper, and garlic mix that is put on a hoagie with our housemade cheese sauce. Plant-based eating can be very exciting, we just want everyone to know that even though they may choose something else on a regular basis, that there is something for everybody. I think that's what the building block of Urban Beats is," says Rebecca.
"It would be great to have things back to normal for sure, but until that happens, we are going to be here. That's the goal," says Rebecca.
