Tally's Tap begins allowing customers inside

WAUKESHA — Opening in 2013, Tally's Tap has grown into a popular restaurant on Waukesha's Sunset Drive.

"We started as a pub and grill. There were only five draft lines and limited seating. There used to be dividers between these rooms, and there was like a game room over there, so we were able to open everything up expand the dining by over triple and kind turn into more craft beer and from-scratch pub food type destination," says Jessica Tallinger, co-owner of Tally's.

With a strong following, it still wasn't easy for Jessica to hear the news COVID-19 brought with it.

"It was just such a hard thing to figure out because you are given a two-hour notice on St. Patrick's Day, the busiest day of the year that you have to shut down with all this product all this inventory," says Jessica.

Doing their best to move forward, Tally's Tap was able to adjust quickly.

"Started staffing for curbside which was two people a day and then as it grew we realized we needed three or four. My husband has actually been a delivery driver for the past couple of months," says Jessica.

Now with the safer at home order over, Tally's Tap is starting to welcome customers back inside.

"It's nice to see people coming back through. It's going to be a large adjustment to try and see how many people are going to dine-in or choose to take out but we're working on trying to do the best possible thing so everyone is happy," says Jessica.

As for those who have helped them weather this pandemic, Jessica is grateful and can't wait to see you again.

"The customers have just been really awesome, some of them dropped off donations for the staff. The Waukesha Eats group and the Lake County Curbside groups we've been participating in have gained a lot of new customer base. So, the community has just been amazing and hopefully moving forward everyone will just be a little kinder to each other," says Jessica.
