Snapdragon arranging smiles, flowers

ELM GROVE — For the past nine years, Snapdragon Flowers has been arranging stems and smiles.

"It smells really good in here. It's full of life with the plants and the flowers. It's just a joyful area," Rhonda Deaver, owner of the floral studio, said.

Things are so joyful, that not even a pandemic could shut the doors for long.

"When it first hit, we closed the doors for probably about 48 hours while we were trying to figure out what was going on. Then we switched over to safe delivers and then as things kept unfolding then we kept doing a little more curbside pickup," Deaver said.

With most of the orders being received over the phone or online, to begin with, Deavers said the journey through COVID-19 has gone smooth.

"It has been very great because I have an amazing team and staff. So we were able to support one another and give each other the space that they needed. That has been a huge upside and keeping positive. There is going to be a flip-side, and we're going to get to the other side so let's just keep going," Deavers said.

While prom, weddings, and other special events have been canceled, customers haven't forgotten the power of a simple gesture.

"Flowers will give you that lift and will show someone that you love them even though you can't be there in their space," Deavers said.

Allowing customers back into their space, Deavers and her Snapdragon team look forward to giving customers a small piece if normalcy.

"They can see that we are getting back to normal and the connections have been the biggest thing that's been missing. So it gives everyone energy to talk to somebody and talking about flowers and plants is always a fun subject," Deavers said.
