Each day during the pandemic, TMJ4 News is focusing on businesses that are open. These essential businesses bring the community together and support local.

This "We're Open" takes us to a food truck called Milk Can Hamburgers & Frozen Custard.

The lunch hour is a frenzy of activity inside the truck. It's close quarters, but co-owner Kurt Fogle says employees are taking precautions.

"You need to be one hundred percent healthy," said Fogle.

The food truck mostly travels between Muskego and Milwaukee's south side neighborhoods. It serves up everything from cheeseburgers to chicken sandwiches and seasoned fries.

It's a restaurant on wheels that is still trucking along.

"As long as everybody's healthy then we're going to keep pushing," Fogle said.

Fogle and his business partner Ryan Oschmann have worked day and night to modify the truck to handle the amount of customers they have seen.

"The growth of the business on the food truck has been absolutely insane compared to what it was," Oschmann said.

But it's the growth of support from the community that has made this moment in time bittersweet.

"Emotional has been a word thrown around a lot between us," Oschmann added.

For employees, it means so much that Ryan and Kurt are able to keep the business open.

So, if burgers and fries sound good to you, look them up on Facebook and Instagram to find out where the food truck will be. And don't forget to save room for their homemade custard.

"We're adding some fun stuff in it because we think if we can put things in that category at this time, people can have a couple extra brownies in their ice cream," Fogle said.

Milk Can Hamburgers & Frozen Custard is among the more than 400 businesses listed on our "We're Open" page on tmj4.com.
