HALES CORNERS — Mama Bev's Bakery understands what it's like to have to change it up once in a while.
"We have my grandma's recipe for cake, we used to have pizza, and people liked the cake more, so we changed," Mama Bev's Bakery Founder Gary Plassmeyer says.
They also changed after the pandemic hit, joining forces with other area businesses to give back.
"Giving to those in need is a good way to put it. We're not trying to limit it to just hospitals," Plassmeyer says.
Owner Gary Plassmeyer got together with other area businesses, including SLO' Motion BBQ and Vintage Grounds Coffeehouse, and came up with a plan.
"We can help business owners make some money, all while serving those in need and those that should be thanked in our community and those that serve others," Plassmeyer says.

With every purchase you make from one of their businesses, they will donate food to front line workers and those in need.
"We just didn't want to sit on the sidelines. We opened a year ago and wanted to get involved," Vintage Grounds Coffeehouse owner Erin Zielinski says.
"I was all in. I got into this to serve the community and make a difference. And I feel like we can band together and do that," Adam Gregare of SLO' Motion BBQ says.
Gary relates the goal to one of his favorite movies.
"It's like the 'Blues Brothers.' We're on a mission from God," Plassmeyer says.
