MILWAUKEE — Mexican Village Restaurant on 92nd and Beloit is open for carry-out and delivery, but this family restaurant is struggling to keep their doors open during this pandemic.

"It was already tough running a business. You never have enough money to pay for everything," said owner Abel Meza. "And now with everything we have to do and fewer people, I mean it's gotten really tough. Some days we do 20 percent of what our regular sales would be and that's when you just want to give up."

Owner Abel Maza said business has been tough but loyal customers have helped soften the blow of the coronavirus.

Abel has decided to hang in there because his customer support has been amazing.

"It's crazy how generous people have gotten with the tipping and it's not like something you see here and there. It's pretty much every day," he said. "And I mean we're just grateful for that."

Meza said some his grandfather's secret recipe's are among the things that make his restaurant special.
