Historic Franks Diner misses crowds of customers

MILWAUKEE — If you're looking for some long history in a diner, there's one sitting right in Kenosha.

Franks Diner has been serving up their food here for 90 years.

"We're sitting in the original portion," says co-owner Julie Rittmiller. "This was moved here by horses in 1926 and it's probably one of the oldest continuing family-owned diners in the United States.

Julie and her husband Kevin have owned this famous 55-seat historic restaurant for the past 10 years. Because of the pandemic, they're doing curbside and takeout only and they miss the crowds.

"It's very odd because we're known for our interaction with our customers," Kevin says. "We're known for being sassy and brassy and even a little bit of rudeness, but we don't have the customers for that right now."
