MILWAUKEE — Babe's Ice Cream shop will be celebrating fifteen years on Kinnickinnic Ave this year.
This ice cream shop is unique. They sell vegan ice cream.
"We make in-house all of our cones, our dip cones are made in house, our whip cream is made in-house, all of our cakes our vegan cakes, our ice cream cakes, everything is made in house," said owner Christine Cruz.
Cruz has seen her business slow down a lot because of the pandemic.
"It's tough, I'm grateful for the support that I am getting from my regulars. It's not as busy as we would like but I am grateful for what I do have. Can I have more? Absolutely. Can I do more? Absolutely. We try and we're trying to keep people safe and six feet apart. We have moved our tables and chairs so people can feel safe when they walk in," said Cruz.
And if you have a sweet tooth, this a place you're going to have to try out if you haven't tried them already.
"We carry 32 flavors. We have variety, we're always choosing and listening to our customers for what flavors they're looking for but there's one that tops them all. Zanzibar Chocolate is our number one seller," said Cruz.
Babe's Ice Cream Shop in Bay View is open seven days a week. Monday through Thursday, the doors open up at noon and on the weekends they open up at 11 a.m.
The recommendations here are the Zanzibar Chocolate, their strawberry milkshakes, and their banana splits. Also, don't forget about their vegan ice cream cakes.
